Things to Ponder

Things to Ponder

Do you know the Lord?
Do you really know the Lord?
Do you have a personal relationship with God?
At the end of this journey, will He know you or
will He he say, depart from me, I know you not?
Have you repented and turned to God?
Do you believe in the Trinity?
Do you believe that Jesus died and rose from the
Do you believe there is life after death?
Do you believe that Jesus died for our sins?
Is Heaven your goal?
If you are reluctant to answer any of these questions
or if your answer(s) leave(s) you troubled, please
attend church  and speak to a minister. You are always
welcome to Rising Star and Rev.Flowers will gladly
speak with you regarding the Word of  God. It is
important to Him that you' are saved!
Remember, God does not want any one to be lost.

Many have heard the teaching and the preaching
of God's Word and His call  or out reaching for
acceptance of Him. Many have accepted Him but
many are still waiting for that perfect day and hour
for accepting him. The Bible tells us that God loves
us. He loved us so much that He gave his only
son (Jesus) so that we might have life, eternally.
Jesus did not come to condemn us but he came
so that we would have life abundantly. The Bible
also tells us that Jesus has gone to prepare a place
for us and He will come again and receive us. He
is coming back for a church without a spot or a
wrinkle. Indeed Heaven is a prepared place and to
dwell  therein, we must be prepared. His Word does
not tell us when He will come again ;therefore, we
must get ready and stay ready. Wise men and
women do not want to be left behind. Nor do they
want to miss the glorious place that He has prepared
Behold he stands at  the door and knocks. Let Him in.
Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. The time is now.
Turn to the Lord  and He will save you. You will get
your rightful inheritance, everlasting life in glorious
Heaven. Why not take that step today. Accept Him
before it is everlasting too late. God is offering the
greatest gift of all. Don't let it go unclaimed. Visit
Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church or any Bible
teaching and believing church. It may be later
than you think. God's grace, mercy and peace
unto you.!

From the Pastor's Wife

      FROM THE PASTOR'S WIFE

I share the sentiment's of my husband concerning Christ's Church.  Having been called by God and when becoming a Child of God, there were things I had to learn.  I had to learn that letting go of what we cherish is one of the toughest things we ever have to do and that includes letting go of jobs, homes, relationships, good health, illusions, self-importance and sometimes even loved ones. We are crippled by sufferieng, unless we learn to say goodbye as well as hello. I had to learn that God MUST be first!  That applies to me and anyone who has decided to make God their choice. We must say " Farewell to the Broad-way of living  and  Hello to walking on Straight Street."

Church History

On June 1, 1965, Rev. Smith, being a humble servant of God obeyed His will by calling together a community meeting in his home located at 419 Muegge Street, San Antonio, Texas. Those present were Bro. Clinton James Todd Sr., Sis Virgie Lee Todd, Bro Central Todd Jr., Bro Charles B. Barksdale Sr., Sis. Isabel News, Sis. Lilly Mae Sneed, Rev. Emmet W. Smith, Sis. Katherine Smith and Sis. Joyce M. White.

The Purpose of the Church

The purpose of the church is to teach biblical doctrine, provide a place of fellowship for believers, provide a place for praise, worship and acknowledgment of the Lord, provide a place of united prayer and for observance of the Lord’s Supper. (Read Acts 2:42)

The purpose of teaching biblical doctrine is to promote the birth and growth of our faith. (Read Ephesians 4:14)

Words of Encouragement

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be

If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me

The Fruits of Worry

Worry causes additional stress and can be fatal. It is and always will be a fatal disease of the heart. When we worry that is a sign that faith in waning and possibly could soon be gone.

Worry intrudes on God’s compassionate ability to provide for us.

Knowing God - Life's Major Pursuit

Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength
Or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this;
That he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice
And righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, “declares the Lord.”
